Let's take this flower.
Frost is attached to all flowers.
Because it doesn't understand whether it is a flower of the mum that any is white
the poem quoted is from the famed "hyaku nin isshu" ('a poem each from a hundred poets') compiled by fujiwara no teika. poem #29:

Kiku japanese chrysanthemum
the flower was imported from Tang 唐 china as a medicinal plant in Jodai 上代 gods era about 6ce~8ce, also grown as an ornamental in due course. At that time, its small not like large-flowered on today. it is called "Nissei" (symbolizing the sun), "King in hundred plants" prayed a long survival with chrysanthemum alcohol, called "life-sustaining grass" .Gotoba tenno especially loved this flower, chrysanthemum crest on using the swords and dailies. Subsequently, inherited by successive tenno, a chrysanthemum crest became the imperial family crest.
No 29 凡河内躬恒 おおしこうちのみつね
心あてに折らばや折らむ初霜のおきまどはせる白菊の花
こころあてに おらはやおらむ はつしもの をきまとはせる しらきくのはな (定家仮名遣)
【私解】当て推量に、折れるものならば折ってみようか。一面に置いた初霜が見分け難くしている白菊の花を。
【語釈】◇心あてに あてずっぽうに。根拠もなく推し量って。「よく注意して」の意とする説もある。◇折らばや折らむ 折るならば、折ろうか。「ばや」は接続助詞「ば」と疑問の助詞「や」。◇初霜の 初霜が。霜は空気中の水蒸気が地表などに触れて昇華し、氷片となったもの。古人は露が凍って出来ると考えたらしい。◇おきまどはせる 霜が一面に置いて、その白さゆえ、どれが菊の花かと惑わせる。菊の花の凛然たる白さを印象づけるために誇張された、言わば超現実的な趣向である。なお、百人一首の歌として見る場合、「おき」に後鳥羽院の配流先「隠岐」を隠していると見る説がある（織田正吉氏）。
菊 上代に唐から薬用植物として輸入され、やがて鑑賞用に栽培されるようにもなった。当時は今見るような大輪のものはなく、上掲の写真のような小型の菊であったろうと言う。「日精」（太陽の象徴）とも「百草の王」とも称され、また菊酒などで延命長寿を祈ったことから「延命草」とも呼ばれた。後鳥羽院はこの花を殊に愛し、刀や日用品に菊花紋を用いた。以後、代々の天皇に継承され、菊花紋は皇室の御紋となった。
