環球閑話時事の徒然
This is an opinion from Japanese point of view. If there is an evidence where Japanese goverment forced them to be sex slaves, please just show us. However, no one can show the clear evidence. What does this mean??? How can Japanese people apologize even though there is no evidence?
Enough of this mass-apology stuff. Where does it end? Can we just all accept that the evolvement of humans is littered with a lot of mistakes and bad judgement? Most countries and cultures have a list of having done bad things in previous generations. I just can't believe that we devote so much time and energy to obtaining these "apologies" for things our ancestors allegedly did.
There are absolutely nothing that Japanese Imperial Army's record about issue known as wartime comfort women . but Chinese and Korean blame Japan on sex slave for soldiers.WHY?
Japanese Imperial Army never forced to serve as comfort women for soldiers.Comfort women are no more than prostitute.Old Japanese Imperial Army just hired prostitute.
There are no evidence for the existence of kidnapping Chinese and Korean women.Japanese don't need to apologize .
Please discuss after knowing the facts.
How many people knows what is called sexslaves?
Where is the evidence? and Where do you get them?
We recieve every fact you learn.
There is no evidence that jpn's army coerced the sex slave for korean women on WW2. It is known that there were many korean and japanese prostitute (jp>>kr) and the brothel going after Jpn's army. It is uncertain from where they come. But it is conceivable that many of them were tempted well-payment because of the remained record, recruiting advertisement or receipt etc. of the day. Korean must stop the anti-jpn propaganda. The Kouno's allegation was made by unfair pressure from korean lobbyist.
Why Japanese can't say the truth ?
I want you to know the fact that Japanese student can't sing their national song and can't raise their national flag in school event.
Our neighbours have been asking for compensation and made a thousand of requests to us for 60 years. We did not talk back to them because claimers would become more agressive if we do so.
Now we feel they have done too much.
Yi Yong-Su testifies she was abducted by a man wearing a "seemingliy military uniform" in 1944 when she was 16 and she was forced to work as a "sex slave" for three years in Taiwan. That is, she was a "sex-slave" between 1944 and 1947.
I wonder why those who critisize Prime Minister Abe never cast doubt on her testimony because Japan was defeated in 1945. Can anybody tell me how Japanese Army made her work as a "sex-slave" after Japan's surrender?
The "comfort women" were prostitutes following the army camp, gathered by pimps or job ad, and properly treated.
Moreover, most of them (about 2/3) were Japanese women.
(It makes a lot of sense, because patrons were Japanese men.)
Recently, Japanese communists trumped-up this story to blame Japanese government. Then, Korean and Chinese followed.
Unfortunately, Japanese politicians were entrapped at the time.
I think that this issue should be properly characterized in history.
Recent Korea and China's Anti-Japan movement strongly turn away many failures of their government's internal affairs that maybe often makes their people angry.
Many people have not noticed that by government's information control(especially in China).
The comfort women were not slaves at least since they were paid. Some ex-comfort women filed a suit for unpaid daily pay after the war. The Japanese imperial army managed some brothels for comfort women. But, there is no evidence that the government and the army at that time forced women to serve as comfort women. On the contrary, there was a case where the Imperial army issued an order to crack down some private companies kidnapped women. This means the army was trying to stop such activities.
It doesn't matter how many testimonies exist,
THERE IS NO EVIDENCE WHICH SUPPORTS TESTIMONIES.
I wanna ask Koreans that
How much many do you want? we've already paid 800 million dollers.
How long do you want to stick with the past?
I already have so much discuss of this issue in Korean-Japanese Forum.
They never show us any proof which support testimonies.
"Comfort women problem" is a propaganda made by Asahi Shinbun(Japanese(!) newspaper). It has ended in Japan when Seiji Yoshida ran away from the scene years ago. Today, most Japanese don't believe that. Are they all "revisionists"? Of course not.
The book of Newest Reserch by Ikuhiko Hata isn't translated, and the lie still survives.
Many Koreans and Taiwaneses were working in Japanese army. And 40% of "comfort women" were Japanese. But medias don't touch them. The answer lies there.
Every Country involved in military conflict has committed what would be internationally recognized in peace time, as atrocities. Unfortunately, only the ‘losers’ are made to recognize this. Who examines the carpet bombing of Japanese cities by the US or of Dresden by the British, both intended to massacre civilians? They may even (arguably) have been necessary, however we all need to recognize that we aren’t as civilized as we like to think so we can hopefully start move forward & improve.
I support Abe.This is just normal opinion.
It can not be trusted only by some testimonies.
I wanna ask BBC that why did you use the term "SLAVE" for this?
Slave means a person who forced to work for no maney or something.
However, those comfort weman were recruited by local brokers and earned salary more than soldiers.
You can see the recruitment poster in Korean government website and more details in U.S.National Archievs.
Person who wrote this should study bit more history.
The point of this controversy is the fact whether there exists any objective evidence of 'coercion' or not. So there is no need to discuss.
I believe this tale about 'coercion' is the fabrication by the left-wing people with the intention to undermine the power of Japanese conservative political power. In reality , I believe , they were spontaneous prostitutors from Korea who aimed money to live in extreme poverty.
There was no reason to kidnap young girls in Korea. Because so many prostitutes were at that time in Korea.
What is the evidence?
Documents show that Japanese army gathered prostitutes through brokers and job ad.
Comfort women's testimony are inconsistent. Can you believe her story?
There is no witness of kidnapping, even their family.
(Maybe, they were "sold" to broker by their family because of poorness)
I strongly support Abe's opinion which is a body based on the true. The comfort woman is a humane system made to control the sex crime on the military forces and the one that the prostitute was recruited in exchange for the reward of tremendous amount of money.Recruitment is completely done by a private trader and compulsion was severely managed. The fact of which the official body of Japan made up the prostitute by force doesn't exist, and, naturally, the evidence doesn't exist either.
The content of "evidence in Japanese documents, unearthed in 1992" is ...
"Recently, there are reports that some broker cheat young girls. Therefore, we must check brokers and crack down on such illegal activities."
This message was distorted like this. "Japanese army managed houses of prostitution"
Prostitutes existed during WW2 not only under Japanese military but also under UK military. Anyway under Japanese governance no Koreans protested against Japan on comfort women problems although they appealed to terrorism for independence. Even after WW2, Koreans had not protested on comfort women problems till 1990’s. Why?
According to the old ad, they have taken about 10,000 dollars a month in salary. In addition, they could get an advance of about 100,000 dollars on their salary.
A report of the U.S.Army says they have taken from about 38,000 dollars to 76,000 dollars a month.
May 22,1992, Ms.文玉珠 asked the post office in Japan to return her savings. It is 26,145 yens in value at that time. She says she saved it from May, 1943 to September, 1945. It contains about 1,000,000 dollars now.
Were they really slave?
Japaneses people, whether right-wing politicians or ordinary people, do not deny the existence of comfort women, who offered sexual activity in exchange for payment. The job is undesirable but profitable. No surprise some of them did the job unwillingly. If Japan is to be blamed for the business, there should be evident proof that it was the Japanese government, not cash-strapped family members or dishonest pimps, that forced the reluctant women to serve as prostitutes. There's no such proof.
I think Japanese society and Japan in general is one the most pacifist country in the world. Unlikely US, Britain, France, Belgium, Russia they have not been involved in any conflict for more than 60 years.
That’s what counts!
Surely they committed atrocities, in the same way all other countries did, but the Japanese and the Japanese government moved on. They learned the lesson and changed.
Can we say the same about other countries?
Other Asian countries should think about this
It is clear that Mr. Abe is NOT arguing about the existence of Comfort Stations at the war fronts during WW2. Prime Minister Abe is simply pointing out the fact that there have been a single piece of documentation unearthed by any historian to this date that proves the linkage between the Japanese authorities and the violence, including kidnappings, inflicted upon comfort women. And he is right about it.
BBC says, "[A]t least 200,000 young women were forced..."
Give me a break.
Abe’s comment is correct because there is no evidence of coercion. The point of this controversy is whether there is any objective evidence or not. What is necessary is not the discussion but the showdown of the evidence. I believe this tale about 'coercion' is the fabrication by the left-wing people with the intention to undermine the power of Japanese conservative political power. I believe they were spontaneous prostitutors from Korea who aimed money to live in extreme poverty,in reality.
We need to know these three facts.
1) The Supreme Court of the United States concluded that there was no sex-slaved girl by past Japanese government (Feb. 2006).
2) The women who introduce themselves sex-slaved girls have many comments of the past incident. But most of those comments do not have consistency.
3) The Treaty on Basic Relations between Japan and the Republic of Korea (June 22, 1965) says that the responsibility of personal compensation belongs to S-Korea. Please see the Treaty.
It was common for women of low status, accused of prostitution, or discriminated against on the basis of religion, ethnicity or nationality, to be forced to provide sex to conquering troops. There is a long history of this. Islamic law still permits rape of non muslim women by Islamic troops. Nazi German troops routinely practiced consigning such women to sex slavery. As to Japan's historic participation, let the world court gather the evidence and then let Japan compensate victim families.
Later the local Korean media in Cheju reported it was the ridiculous nonsense story, but Korean government misuses it to degrade Japan persistently. Japanese tend to apology for their not-faults to avoid trouble. But what is wicked is Koreans exploit this Japanese naive nature.
It is the fact that confort-woman were, but they never were forced by Japanese army.
There is no evidence to prove it,but testimony.
There testimony were changing by the time, so the testimonys never be same.
If you say that they were forced by Japanese army, you should prove it.
It must not be judged to feeling in your inside.
For example, the sinner who is disappointing can say, "I am a victim."
Although it can do, the judgment should be performed
based on logical facts, such as law and real evidence.
Feeling is fluid.
If it may become big anger or large opinion by some causes,
the fact is easy to be hidden.
It should be judged calmly to avoid such a thing.
I think many people don't know the fact of Japan.
I wishes that many proof is released here.
When I was a producer of NHK, the counterpart of BBC in Japan, I covered this issue for two months traveling to South Korea. We tried to find the evidence that Japanese army had forced women into the "war-brothels". But nothing was found. Nobody has ever found such an evidence.
Yes, there were many proof of the wrongdoings of brokers who "bought" women from Korea. But they were PRIVATE agents. Why should Japanese government be responsible for the private business practices?
Nobuo Ikeda, Tokyo
Historical facts about so called comfort women.
1. Over 70% of comfort women were Japanese.
2. So many Korean dealers were involved in sex business to sell prostitutes to the Japanese
Army.
3. Some vicious dealers gather women with fraud way, and the Japanese Army gave cautions to
avoid such dealers.
