N Seoul Tower is a communication and observation tower located on Namsan Mountain, central Seoul, South Korea. Built in 1969, at a cost of approximately $2.5 million, and opened to the public in 1980, the tower has been a symbol of Seoul and measures 236.7 m (777 ft) in height (from the base) and tops out at 479.7 m (1,574 ft) above sea level. It has also been known as the Namsan Tower or Seoul Tower. After the tower's original owner merged with the CJ Corporation, it was renamed the N Seoul Tower (official name CJ Seoul Tower).

Seoul Tower
I found an old photo which i was looking for.
This should be taken in October 1979. because in mid-October of the year, there have been opened the smaller international conference in Seoul. At that time in South Korea still had been enacted nighttime curfew, the time around 11 pm on the after convention, the hosts of South Korea were rushing to go home. shortly after return to japan, i heard that the news of assassination for President Park (October 26).
anyway, visited the Seoul Tower near the Hilton Hotel where the conference (Namsan Yongsan) ,i took this picture. i remember there was signed on the wall near the box office to climb the tower. it was put emphasis on the view from Seoul Tower is the world's No. 1. The title shown phrase that "Comparison towers in the World" . hum~~i admired and raised up to the observation tower. At that time the car was less in the city,without any air pollution. it was a cloudless sunny in good condition, and the view from the 370m meters above sea level was more than expected.
i was Satisfied, and confirmed again the map in the back. on the outward, i only saw up the top and the height on the observatory, i could overlooked the landscape on 360 ℃ and the streets of Seoul to the Yellow Sea, higher than Tokyo Tower, impressed with them. but Try to watch Again the board, i noticed that the condition of Seoul Tower was different from others. the tower was built on top of Namsan (243m above sea level). the height of the tower is 236m, from height could be issued that it is the third largest tower as 480m high and highest observatory in the world. Hmm~~. a little tricky ...
ソウルタワー
探していた古い写真をみつけた。
これは、1979年10月に撮ったはずである。その年の10月中旬に、ソウルで小さな国際会議を開いたことがあるからだ。そのころは韓国ではまだ夜間禁止令(Curfew)が施行されていて、アフター・コンベンションも夜11時を回るころには、韓国側ホストはそぞろに家路を急いだものだった。帰国してまもなく朴大統領暗殺(10月26日)の報が伝わったころだ。
それはともかく、会議の場所ヒルトンホテル（龍山区南山）に近いソウルタワーを訪れたときのショットがこの写真だ。確かタワーに登るチケット売り場そばの壁にこの案内板があったと記憶している。ソウルタワーからの眺望は世界第1位であることを謳っているわけだ。タイトルにも「世界のタワー比較」とある。ふむふむ、なるほどと感心して展望台にあがった。そのころはまだ市内で車は公共機関以外はあまり見かけなかったから、大気汚染はまったくなく、よい具合に雲ひとつない晴天だったので、海抜370mメートルからの眺めは期待以上のものだった。
満足して、帰りに案内図をもう一度確かめた。往きしなには、てっぺんまでや展望台の高さしか見なかったので、ソウルの街並みや黄海まで一望できる360℃の景観に、東京タワーよりも高い、たいしたもんだと感動していたのである。もう一度見直してみて、ソウルタワーの条件が他と異なっているのに気がついた。南山(海抜243m)の頂上に建てられたタワーであることを。塔の高さは236mだから、高さだけでいえば480mで世界第3位、展望台は世界一というわけである。うーむ。ちょっとずるいんでないかい……。
南山公園は、明洞、梨泰院、南大門市場に囲まれたソウルの中心部にあって、ソウルでもっとも賑わっている一帯だ。ソウルタワーは1975年の竣工で、ソウルのシンボルであり、別名南山タワーとも呼ばれる。最近はよほど条件に恵まれないと遠くまで見渡せないのが残念である。ところで、写真の案内図は、先般タワー内をくまなく探したけれども、今はもうない。
ちなみに、超高層タワー（ビルディングではなく）の世界ランキング（3位まで）は現在はこうなっている。（末尾は建造年）

3. オリエンタルTVタワー 468m 上海（中国） 1995
東京タワー（333m/1958）はようやく10位に顔を出す程度で、1位、2位は当時と変わっていないし、なぜかソウルタワーは影も形もない。どうしてかな。
