LONDON - The IOC has told South Korean officials to bar a football player from collecting his bronze medal on Saturday after he displayed a flag with a political message at the third-place match against Japan.
The International Olympic Committee said it opened its own investigation into the South Korea national flag paraded after Friday’s match. It carried a slogan supporting South Korean sovereignty of islets which are disputed territory with Japan.
“We have also requested that the (South Korea Olympic Committee) takes swift action on this issue and that the athlete not be present at today’s medal presentation ceremony,” the IOC said in a statement. “We have opened an inquiry and have asked the (South Korea Olympic Committee) for an explanation.”
Medals were scheduled to be presented at Wembley Stadium in London following the Brazil vs. Mexico gold-medal match.
Spokesmen for the South Korea Olympic body could not immediately be reached for comment.
FIFA said it has opened a separate investigation to discipline the player, who was not formally identified.
The Olympic Charter and FIFA statutes prohibit political statements by athletes and players.
South Korea won 2-0 on Friday, hours after President Lee Myung-bak raised diplomatic tensions by traveling to the islets.
The presidential visit prompted Japan to recall its ambassador from Seoul.
The bronze-medal match in Cardiff, Wales, was seen as potentially further inflaming tensions.
FIFA has received pictures from the stadium showing a player celebrating victory with the flag on the field.
“The image will be passed to the chairman of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee for his review, and to evaluate any further steps to be taken,” the football governing body said.
The largely uninhabited islets are called Dokdo in Korean and Takeshima in Japanese.
South Korea stations a small contingent of police officers there in a show of control, but Japan maintains that the rocks are its territory. Tokyo renewed the claim last month in an annual defense report.
During his visit Friday, Lee reportedly told police officers there that the islets are “worth sacrificing lives for,” according to the presidential office.
Japanese Foreign Minister Koichiro Gemba said it was “incomprehensible why (Lee) would make this trip at this time.”
Next Wednesday, South Korea will commemorate the peninsula’s independence in 1945 from 35 years of Japanese colonial rule.

Fifa have charged a South Korea player after he displayed a sign with a political message during his side's bronze medal win over Japan in Cardiff.
Park Jong-woo allegedly displayed a banner supporting Korean sovereignty over a group of islands claimed by the two countries. Hours before the game, Japan withdrew its ambassador from Seoul after South Korea's president, Lee Myung-bak, visited the islets his country calls the Dokdo chain, which is Takeshima to the Japanese.
A Fifa spokesman said: "In view of the information currently at his disposal, the chairman of the Fifa disciplinary committee has this afternoon decided to open disciplinary proceedings against Park Jong‑woo, regarding his behaviour after the match played between the Republic of Korea and Japan on 10 August 10.
"The KFA and the player now have a deadline of 16 August to provide their position. Further information will be provided in due course." The International Olympic Committee are also investigating.

South Korean Player Not at Olympic Medal Ceremony

LONDON (AP) — A South Korean soccer player who held up a sign with a political message after a victory over Japan did not get a bronze Sunday when the Olympic medals were handed out in a ceremony to the rest of his team.
Midfielder Park Jong-woo is under investigation by the IOC and soccer's governing body, FIFA, for displaying the sign with a slogan supporting South Korean sovereignty over disputed islets that are claimed by both his country and Japan. The largely uninhabited islets are called Dokdo by South Koreans and Takeshima by Japanese.
The IOC and FIFA have statutes that prohibit political statements by athletes and players. Olympic officials had asked the South Korean Olympic Committee to take action against Park and that he not be present at the ceremony.
When the men's soccer medals were presented at Wembley Stadium following Mexico's 2-1 win over Brazil in the gold-medal match, only 17 of the 18 South Korean players were on the field for the ceremony. Park was not among them.
The IOC had begun an investigation into Park's actions, and FIFA said it has opened a separate investigation to discipline the athlete.

한일전의 승자는 한국이었다.
홍명보 감독이 이끄는 대한민국 올림픽 축구대표팀이 11일 오전(이하 한국시간) 영국 카디프 밀레니엄 스타디움서 열린 '2012 런던올림픽' 남자 축구 3-4위전서 일본을 2-0으로 꺾고 동메달을 목에 걸었다. 한일전을 승리로 장식한 홍명보호는 역사상 첫 올림픽 메달 획득의 대업까지 이루며 두 마리 토끼 잡기에 성공했다.
준결승 브라질전과 선발 명단이 다른 점은 박주영(아스널)과 정성룡 골키퍼(수원)가 돌아온 점이다. 최전방과 최후방이 든든해진 한국은 확실히 달랐다. 전반 초반부터 일본을 거칠게 압박한 한국은 흐름을 잡아가며 경기를 주도했다. 지동원(선덜랜드)과 구자철(아우크스부르크)도 적극적으로 공격에 가담하며 일본의 빌드업을 흔들었다.
전반 중반이 되면서 서서히 살아난 일본에 위협적인 슈팅을 두 차례 허용하던 한국은 전반 37분 박주영이 해결사로 나섰다. 수비 진영에서 곧장 박주영에 볼이 연결됐고 박주영은 상대 수비 3명 사이서 드리블 돌파 후 낮게 깔리는 오른발 슈팅으로 일본의 골망을 가르며 선제골을 뽑아냈다. 대회 내내 혹평을 듣던 박주영이 가장 중요한 무대서 제 몫을 다 한 순간이었다.
박주영의 선제골로 전반을 앞선 채 끝낸 홍명보호는 후반 초반 공격의 고삐를 조인 일본을 맞아 수비에 힘을 주며 지키는 데 주력했다.
뒷문을 단단히 하면서 속공으로 경기를 풀어가던 한국은 후반 11분 승부에 쐐기를 박았다. 박주영이 길게 넘어온 볼을 머리로 떨어뜨리자 구자철이 쇄도해 골로 연결해 추가골을 뽑아냈다.
구자철은 동료들과 얼싸안고 기쁨을 나누다 코칭스태프와 대기 선수들이 있는 벤치 쪽으로 달려가 손을 맞잡았다. 이후 감동의 만세 삼창.

경기 직후 인터뷰에서 구자철은 "'독도는 우리 땅' 세레모니를 하려고 했는데 당연히 우리 땅인 것을 표현하는 것은 유치하다고 생각했다"면서 "기성용이 광복절을 앞두고 만세삼창을 하자고 해서 그냥 그대로 했다"고 밝혔다.
일본의 추격 의지에 제대로 찬물을 끼얹은 한국은 흔들리는 일본에 파상공세를 펼쳤다. 4분 뒤 김보경(카디프 시티)의 슈팅이 일본의 골망을 재차 가르는 것처럼 보였으나 골대를 맞고 나와 아쉽게 점수 차를 벌리지 못했다.
이후 일본의 공세를 잘 막아내던 한국은 이번 대회서 출전하지 않았던 김기희(대구)까지 투입하며 굳히기에 나섰고 마지막까지 집중력을 놓지 않은 한국은 일본을 2-0으로 꺾고 염원하던 동메달의 주인공이 됐다.

女子バスケットボール「日本vs韓国」戦で、 韓国人選手の日本人選手に対する肘打ち、突き飛ばし、タックル、後ろからラリアットと 試合中、ラフプレーを明らかに超えた顔面まで狙った暴行を繰り返す事態が起きた。 韓国人の観客はそれを見て憤るどころか大喜び。 韓国選手が日本選手をわざと突き飛ばすなど、常軌を逸したラフプレーまみれで 日本人を痛めつけることが目的になっている。 しかし日本のテレビは韓国人による日本人への加害行為はいつも通り隠蔽し、 一切報道しない体制を取った。

the meaning of pronunciation in Hangul,Korean language, "18" has argot meaning such as "motherfucker" "die!" fuck " in Korea.
i guess that they did it intentionally.
previously,in FUJI TV on drama, a director who is korean resident in japan took a prop written with "JAP18" and T shit printed with mushroom cloud of atomic bomb.
so i must wonder that the korean player had intended into the insulted

ちなみにユニフォーム交換で日本のユニフォーム（ピンク色で番号が18）を着ている韓国選手。この韓国選手はわざわざ試合に出場していない18番の控え選手と交換しているのですが、18は韓国の隠語で「ファック」「畜生」「くそったれ」等の意味があります。
意図的にやったなと思うのは考え過ぎでしょうか？前に某テレビ局のドラマで『JAP18』という小道具が登場して話題になった事と、某韓国選手が日本に対して猿真似パフォーマンスという侮辱行為をした前科も知っているので、当然この選手も侮辱行為に走ったなと考えているのですが。
